We asked Glen what Dot was like, and this was his reply

First and foremost my mum will be remembered as one of the greats within the 'Christian Spiritualist' movement (worth a Google) Our knowlege, not our belief, is that all life is one and that the human/animal/insect, innermost being (the spirit if you will) survives physical death. I was present when she "did her stuff" infront of 1000 (yes, one thousand) people at an 'Easter Rally' of churches in Abingdon a few years ago. She was one helluva person. Everyone who met her says so.
The crematorium was packed as people from all over the country turned up and some from abroad also. Hundreds and hundreds came to wave her off. It was a joyous occasion that will live in those many memories for a very long time (especially the car parking attendants!)

Dave & Dolly's Holiday Story

Our story and interest in Noah’s Ark goes back to 2005 when on holiday in the village of Pefkos when, on a hot and windy morning on our way to the beach, we spotted a coffee morning taking place and bought some books and raffle tickets . It was in aid of an animal welfare group, on the south side of the island called Noah’s Ark The group at this time were desperately needed on this side of the island, they have been given some land to rent and start up their own animal sanctuary, but the wheels of time grind so slowly taking a long time for all the legal steps to take place. Later that evening we revisited “Buddies” the bar where the coffee morning had taken place, it became our favourite bar – no football or TV. screens just nice music, the waitress hurried up to us and told my husband David, he had won a prize in the raffle – a fantastic meal for two in “Shirley Valentines” in a little village called Lardos.

We have been going to Rhodes for many years, staying in Lindos or Pefkos and always I end up de-fleeing, putting eye drops in cat’s eyes and feeding pregnant dogs and cats etc. One of the major problems occurs when the tourists go home and businesses are shut for the winter and there are no tourists left to feed the roaming cats and dogs. Enter Noah’s Ark, with their winter cat feeding stations, which all need funding.

This year we noticed a plea for help in the August newsletter which coincided with our week’s holiday in September 2008, the request was for 3hours help, which would really make a difference. We duly arrived this September and met up with the Team,  and started on the job of cleaning out the cages and trying to help with the problem of the non working water pump. Our reward came in the way of giving lots of cuddles, pats and loving, to some of the sweetest dogs you have ever met

Having helped out we could see that money is urgently required to help with medications for the dogs. With Ticks and flies carrying diseases in such a hot country, the dogs need regular medication. Please, please help the Noah’s Ark Sanctuary; all donations will make such a huge difference, they will save a dog’s life, vaccinate, spay, neuter and feed both cats and dogs.

Please, Please dig deep and help fund this Sanctuary.
